Scholarship Information
The National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship (NSF GRFP) awards support for graduate studies leading to a career in research for the natural, engineering, and social sciences. To apply, applicants complete both an academic plan and research proposal. Field-specific deadlines occur in late October.
(Requires Institutional Nomination): For sophomores and juniors interested in a research career in mathematics and the sciences. Institutional Deadline: December 1; Scholarship Deadline: late January.
Offered through the National Science Foundation, this program supports undergraduates interested in intensive research at other institutions in STEM or some social science fields during the summer at top universities.
The Fulbright Canada-Mitacs Globalink Research Internship is intended for U.S. students interested in coming to Canada to undertake advanced research projects for 10 to 12 weeks (between May and August) in their area of interest. Projects will be drawn from a broad cross-section of research topics covering all academic disciplines, and students will be placed with a university research project under the supervision of a professor.
The Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program encourages undergraduate students and recent graduates to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers by providing research experiences at the Department of Energy (DOE) laboratories.
Department of Defense Cyber Service Academy Scholarship Full-ride scholarship, covers all tuition, fees, books, a laptop computer, plus $29,000 per year living expenses for juniors and seniors who are US Citizens interested in working in civilian cybersecurity roles in the Department of Defense for at least one year after graduation. Applications are accepted from November 1 to February 1 each year.
Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the two-year fellowship provides academic funding for an IT-related degree, internships, and professional development leading up to an appointment in the Foreign Service as a Diplomatic Technology Officer.
(Requires Institutional Nomination): For sophomores and juniors pursuing environmental studies and public policy and/or to Native American and Alaska Natives in fields related to health care and tribal public policy. Institutional Deadline: January 15.
Scholarship Information
This scholarship funds study abroad or internships for students with a Pell grant. It aims to diversify both the countries students study as well as the types of students who do study abroad. Deadlines are in the spring and fall.
The scholarships support U.S. undergraduates who will pursue the study of languages and cultures currently underrepresented in study abroad and critical to U.S. national security. The Boren Fellowship is designed to give grad students maximum flexibility to pursue their academic goals alongside their target language. In exchange for fellowship funding, all Boren Fellows must agree to the . Internal deadline is December 15.
Freeman-ASIA provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students who have demonstrated financial need to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia.
The Critical Language Scholarship is a fully-funded program that provides students with the opportunity to study one of 15 critical foreign languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and more. This prestigious scholarship covers tuition, room and board, and even travel expenses, making it a great opportunity for students who want to expand their language skills and gain international experience.

This program offers unparalleled opportunities in all academic disciplines to passionate and accomplished graduating college seniors, graduate students, and young professionals from all backgrounds. Volunteer abroad with TTC to empower underserved youth and future leaders through English and Chinese instruction in Thailand. This program focuses on strengthening primary and secondary school education in Thailand, particularly in high-need areas. They are looking for volunteers with a bachelor’s degree with strong communication and interpersonal skills who have a passion to make a difference.
The English Program in Korea (EPiK) seeks motivated and responsible native English speakers to share their knowledge and language with Korean students and teachers within the Korean public school system. This alliance hopes to build strong ties between Korea and other countries and to promote a cultural exchange through teaching.
NALCAP offers awardees the opportunity to immerse themselves in the language and culture of Spain while sharing the language and culture of the United States. American college students and graduates partner with elementary and secondary schools in Spain as language teaching assistants.
The JET Program is a competitive employment opportunity that allows young professionals to live and work in cities, towns, and villages throughout Japan. Being a JET is an opportunity to work and to represent the United States as cultural ambassadors to Japan. Most participants serve as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) and work in public and private schools throughout Japan; some work as Coordinators for International Relations (CIRs) as interpreters/translators.
The US Teaching Assistantship (USTA) Program from Fulbright Austria seeks recent college and university graduates for the opportunity to teach English at Austrian secondary schools.
The Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) is one of the Cultural Services of the French Embassy's longest running and most sought-after programs. Each year, TAPIF places around 1,300 Americans into French public schools to work as English language teaching assistants.

The Payne Fellowship is a prestigious program that offers funding annually for graduate studies in international affairs, plus an internship with the US Department of State. The fellowship is open to undergraduate seniors and recent graduates who are interested in pursuing careers in the Foreign Service. It aims to promote diversity in the Foreign Service by supporting the education and professional development of underrepresented groups, including minorities, women, and those with financial needs.
The Rangel Graduate Fellowship is a program that aims to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State. The Rangel Program supports fellows through two years of graduate study, internships, mentoring, and professional development activities. Fellows who successfully complete the program and Foreign Service entry requirements will receive appointments as Foreign Service Officers.
(Requires Institutional Endorsement): Up to 40 Scholars selected to receive funding for graduate study at a UK institution in any field. Institutional deadline: Early fall.
(Requires Institutional Review) Rhodes Scholars enjoy two years of study at the University of Oxford. Scholars may choose to pursue a second Bachelor’s, a Master’s, or a PhD. Institutional deadline: Early Fall Semester.

This prestigious award provides up to $30,000 for graduate studies and leadership training for students pursuing careers in public service. Truman Scholars also receive access to a vibrant community of like-minded individuals and opportunities for internships and networking in Washington, D.C.
