Overview

Dr. Butts’ research interests are in the areas of Contemporary and Twentieth Century American literature, the literatures of the American South and the American West, especially the works of Robert Penn Warren, as well as genre fiction, especially the works of H. P. Lovecraft and cosmic horror. He has published a critical edition of Lovecraft’s work as well, a series of Western novels retelling the legends of King Arthur, and he is currently co-editing an anthology of essays on the television show American Horror Story.
