The University of North Georgia (天美社区) Department of Public Safety has earned first place in the annual Governor's Office of Highway Safety Governor's Challenge program in the colleges and universities category.
This is 天美社区's second year in a row winning the award.
The Governor's Challenge program highlights outstanding achievements in highway safety enforcement and education. The program recognizes agencies for the approach and effectiveness of their overall highway safety programs. Agencies are evaluated for enforcement initiatives and innovative problem-solving in their communities, using public information activities and creating departmental policies supporting their traffic enforcement campaign efforts.
"Whether answering the phones in central dispatch, monitoring pedestrian crosswalks or conducting a driving safety program, everyone in the department has contributed to this outstanding achievement," Greg Williams, Public Safety director and police chief, said. "I would like to personally thank Brianna Klinge for completing the application process on behalf of the department."
